COVID booster prompts good immune response, except after recent infection --study

A study today in Clinical Infectious Diseases finds that a third COVID-19 vaccine dose triggered a robust immune response, regardless of whether recipients had been infected more than 3 months earlier, but it didn't significantly increase antibody levels in those infected less than 3 months before.

More than a third, or 37%, said they didn't think the benefits are worth it. Another third, or 36%, said they were too busy or hadn't had time.

About a quarter said they didn't want to deal with bad side effects, while 17% said they were waiting to see if there would be a surge in their area first.

Researchers are calling for newer, better options for COVID vaccines

...In particular, researchers think sprays or drops given through the nose or mouth could do a better job of stopping transmission. They also hope that vaccines that target multiple parts of the virus or several variants at once could reduce the need for continuous boosters.
