The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed 4.6 million lives among 221 million confirmed cases worldwide. The speed and urgency with which multiple vaccines have been authorized for use in the United States, the United Kingdom, and elsewhere represent an unrivaled scientific achievement. However, there is a critical need for effective vaccine delivery to realize the promise of ending the pandemic.
